Club Nacional de Football is one of the most successful and storied clubs in the history of Uruguayan football, renowned for its illustrious record in international competitions and its deep historical heritage.
The club's name and its team colors (white, blue, and red) are derived from the flag of the Uruguayan national hero José Artigas, symbolizing the national spirit.
Its home ground, the Gran Parque Central, also holds great historical significance; it was one of the venues for the inaugural 1930 World Cup (1er. Campeonato Mundial de Football), hosting one of the tournament's opening matches on July 13, 1930. Furthermore, the site itself shares deep historical ties with the Uruguayan independence movement.
